William Barnstead

William M. H. Barnstead LL.B., Vice President

Within his practice at Centra Claims Management Inc. Mr. Barnstead provides third party administration, claims adjustment, litigation management and risk management services. He is experienced with claims in the areas of professional liability, errors and omissions, general liability, directors and officers, occupiers’ liability, bodily injury, aviation losses and product liability. His claims experience includes claims both in Canada and the United States.

In his errors and omissions practice Mr. Barnstead has been involved with a wide range of professionals including financial advisors, insurance agents, accountants, appraisers, real estate agents, architects and contractors.

In his general liability practice Mr. Barnstead has been involved with property managers and cleaners of malls, office towers, airports, hotels, apartment buildings, restaurants, bars and residential properties.

Mr. Barnstead is experienced in the interpretation and application of policies of insurance. He frequently provides advice to insurers on matters of coverage and has assisted insurers in the drafting of policies of insurance.

Mr. Barnstead administers insurance programs both for professional associations and companies which are significantly self-insured. He works with his clients to ensure they are provided with timely information and a complete picture of the entire program in addition to individual claims.

Mr. Barnstead helps his clients identify practices or locations which cause greater frequency or severity of claims and works with his clients in the development of educational materials and loss prevention practices to reduce the number of claims and the overall insurance costs.

In addition to his role within Centra Claims Management Inc. Mr. Barnstead separately carries on the practice of law under the name LF Legal Services, acting as either defence counsel to insureds or coverage counsel to insurers.
